Island Community Services is proud to announce that the agency has passed another three-year accreditation process with the best survey results so far.
The agency is committed to an external accreditation, and obligated to it as a condition of certain funding provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, as well as by Community Living BC.
CARF is a widely accepted accrediting body that sets international consensus standards for health and human services organizations. Governments and funders accept CARF accreditation as a sign of quality and is a key accountability measure for the agency for providers of public funding.
The survey by CARF International covers all areas of service delivery in funded programs, as well as organizational governance, community collaboration and business practice.
“Accreditation is a comprehensive review to determine if a provider’s services meet international standards of quality” according to the organization website. “Achieving accreditation means the provider is committed to delivering safe and effective services and ongoing performance improvement.”
The 2024 accreditation marks the latest in the unbroken cycle of surveys since 2007 and came with high praise from the members of the survey team that were on worksites for three days, reviewing all aspects of agency operations and governance.
