Salt Spring Commons

Salt Spring Commons is a new, affordable housing project on a 5-acre property owned by Salt Spring Island Community Services, within the Ganges Village area and adjacent to an established pedestrian trail leading to Ganges Village and Mouat’s Park.

The Salt Spring Commons complex includes 24 two and three bedroom units and a common house facility.

salt spring mapUsing land owned by the organization and ideally suited for family housing, SSICS has developed this project to provide high quality rental homes below market rate. The property’s close proximity to schools and services, location within an existing residential neighbourhood, and natural setting make it an ideal place for people to live.  Rental units will be owned by Salt Spring Island Community Services providing a foundation and revenue stream for ongoing costs.

Please note that both the BC Application as well as Salt Spring Island Community Services application does not form a “Waiting List”.

Tenants for both Salt Spring Commons and Murakami Gardens are selected based on a number of criteria, and not necessarily on a “first come” basis. Salt Spring Island Community Services as well as other organizations in Salt Spring are dedicated to assisting all residents with specific ties to our community who are in need of affordable housing.

Salt Spring Island Community Services online application process will assist us in determining both your specific need for housing, as well as providing invaluable data to support our efforts to create more affordable housing.

Please note that if we do have a vacancy in either Salt Spring Commons or Murakami Gardens, we will post the vacancy on our website, as well as Salt Spring Exchange.
