Island Community Services supports individuals across all programs for adults with support needs. All programs in this area are funded by Community Living BC (CLBC). For more information on CLBC visit their website.
ACCESS TO SERVICE
- Eligibility for funding to access the programs is determined by the Community Living BC Facilitator. Please see the Community Living BC Welcome Brochure Here to find out how to start that process.
- Recommendations for acceptance to services are made by the Community Living Program Coordinator, with final acceptance decisions made by the Program Director.
- Persons can learn about the organization and its services by contacting the Community Living Program Coordinator. Visits to programs are welcome but please contact us in advance.
- Once eligibility has been determined by CLBC, an orientation to services offered will be provided to the individual and their support network.
- Services will be continued for as long as CLBC funding remains in place and the individual is willing and able to engage. Services may be withdrawn if the needs of the individual are no longer a fit for the program and the individual, their support network, and CLBC will be informed of the reasons. In this event all efforts will be made to accommodate, refer to other services, or otherwise ensure the individual’s needs are still being met.
PERSON CENTERED PLANNING
Island Community Services Staff can help individuals and their support network identify and highlight the individual’s unique strengths, preferences, support needs, interests and goals in order to develop individual plans as part of the transition from school to adult services, or at any point when current plans are outdated. These plans are implemented in order to support the individual to live their best life.
