Harvest is an interconnected network of food security programs operating within Salt Spring Island Community Services that includes growing, cooking, preserving, recovering and distributing food in the community. By managing multiple food security programs within one organization we ensure that healthy food goes where it’s needed most.
The HARVEST Programs contributes to a growing movement towards community food security and increasing local production. SSI Community Services works closely with groups such as the SSI Farmland Trust, Salt Spring Seeds, and Tuesday Farmers Market, Country Grocer, and Thrifty’s to plan for the future.
To get involved contact the Food Program Manager at 250-537-9971.
SSI Community Services and Harvest Food Programs have developed as a result of the generosity of the Philip and Muriel Berman Foundation as well as many other local donors and volunteers.
