Salt Spring and Southern Gulf Islands Community Services Society has an interest in welcoming individuals as Society members who are aware of, and committed to, the purpose and good work of the organization. ICS has a long tradition of volunteer participation in numerous service areas, and welcomes these volunteers to become members of the Society.
Society membership is open to individuals
- Over the age of majority for the Province of British Columbia, and
- Resident of the Southern Gulf Islands for at least six continuous months, and
- Free of Conflicts of Interest relevant to the Society, and
- Meet the requirements for participation in the Society as a volunteer as established by the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors has established the volunteer requirement to be 20 hours per year, with the 20 hours to be completed prior to membership. There are many volunteers opportunities and possibilities to suit individual interests and capacity, and ICS welcomes the opportunity to consider options and variations to suit individuals.
Membership approvals are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, as per the Society’s bylaws pertaining to membership. Successful membership applicants will be notified upon approval. Memberships may be obtained or renewed at any time during the year. Annual membership dues are one dollar ($1.00). Membership is for one year at a time. To remain in good standing members must re-apply annually.
New members can vote at the Annual General Meeting or other official members meetings after 30 days have elapsed from the date of their membership application.
