Island Community Services is pleased to award the 2025 bursary of $2,500 to Amber Logan on behalf of the Nitikman/Chan family. Congratulations to Amber, who has worked very hard over the last few years, and best of luck in all future endeavors!
The Nitikman/Chan Educational and Training Fund is intended to support residents of the Southern Gulf Islands who are working to improve their financial standing in life through continued education. In recognition of the scope of their community involvement, Island Community Services was requested to select a community member each year who meets this requirement.
Throughout winter and spring of 2025, Island Community Services explored a number of candidates and Amber Logan was identified as the standout recipient. Amber has worked as a Care Aid at Greenwoods, a Customer Service Attendant with BC Ferries, and worked in retail with Saltspring Soapworks. Amber is currently training to become a Registered Counsellor through the Kelowna College of Professional Counselling. Amber is studying and finishing her practicum hours at the ICS Homeless Shelter and the Mental Health Support Group, while raising her child as a single mother. Amber has proven through her practicum and counselling studies to be well-suited to work in the field of mental health and supporting people as a counsellor and in the Social Services field.
