Early Childhood programming at Family Place is one of the over 40 programs of Island Community Services (ICS) and a key part of the Child, Youth and Family program area.

The Early Childhood Program officially opened its doors in a small building at the main ICS site at 268 Fulford-Ganges Road in May of 1995 and is celebrating 30 years of operation this summer.

The 30th birthday party kicks off a series of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Island Community Services which became a society in March, 1975.

In 2009, it relocated to its current premises at Family Place, a building operated by ICS at 120 Park Drive, the original manse of All Saints by the Sea church, where it offers programs for parents and children 0-6yrs old including Drop-in Stay and Play twice per week, an Island Infant Circle for parents and babies in their first year, Parent- Child Mother Goose, Dad’s Pancake Breakfast and Prenatal Classes. All programs are open to the whole community and are free of charge. Family Place hosts the Early Childhood program activities along with Family Development and Family Counselling.Outreach Building at SSICS

Partnerships with the Public Health Nurses, the Salt Spring Firefighters, Queen Alexandria Centre for Child Development, the Salt Spring Public have allowed ICS to strengthen and expand the Early Childhood services in the community in recent years.
