Volunteer for the Food Bank

Come and volunteer in a fun and busy atmosphere where you can make a difference.

The Harvest Food Bank is looking for new volunteers to add to our great crew.  We have a dedicated group of volunteers who help the community by making food hampers accessible for those in need.  Examples of the duties carried out by volunteers include bagging fresh produce and canned goods, stocking shelves, portioning dry goods and sorting donations. Candidates must be willing to have a criminal record check done but there are no special skills or experience required. You just need a friendly, non-judgmental attitude, be able to do some lifting and be on your feet for the duration of a 3 hour shift.

The Food Bank also requires volunteer drivers who deliver food hampers and prepared meals directly to seniors living in their own homes.

There are a variety of volunteer shifts available from Monday through Thursday as well as extra opportunities in the holiday season.  Training and orientation is provided by the Food Bank Coordinator.

These positions are on-going and you can start any time.  Email the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@ssics.ca for more information or fill out the contact form here.
