Celebrating its 11 anniversary this year on November 28, Giving Tuesday is a day of generosity when people find a way to give to their favourite causes. Giving can be by doing or donating with volunteer commitments as valuable as cash and easier for some to give. Giving Tuesday is a movement that has spread to dozens of countries and sees billions of dollars donated by those who want to help those less fortunate.
This Giving Tuesday, consider ways to help locally.
Attend the Barney Bentall and the Cariboo Express food bank fundraiser, with a great show of stellar musicians.
Volunteer for Island Community Services. There are many opportunities including the Food Bank. You can volunteer a little or a lot. The annual Holiday Hamper program represents a monumental effort of dozens of volunteers that are in short supply this year if an ongoing regular commitment won’t fit your schedule.
Donate your returnables at the Recycle Depot. You can dispose of all your returnable containers at the Recycle Depot donating the revenue to Island Community Services. Beverage cans, bottles and milk containers are all eligible for deposit return.
Donate directly to Island Community Services to help support the more than 40 programs that the community relies on.
However you can help is valuable and lifts our community up.
