SSICS will receive $ 100,000 for each of the next two years from United Way of Greater Victoria.
This is a significant reduction from past years, and it required some quick and difficult analysis to determine where the funding would be best allocated. We determined that a simple formula of $ 75,000 for Mental Health Outreach and $ 25,000 for New Beginnings Vocational Development was the wisest way to go.
United Way indicated that they struggled with funding allocations to the Salt Spring and the Southern Gulf Islands because they lacked understanding of the community needs. We look forward to contributing to increasing their awareness before application time next year.
