Volunteer at the Climbing Wall

Share your energy and climbing skills with like-minded islanders.  The Wall Climbing Gym at Salt Spring Island Community Services is in immediate need of up to 10 volunteers as voluntary supervisors for public climbing and group climbing sessions (i.e., school groups and birthday parties).  Duties include collecting fees, supervision/safety, and belaying (safety roping).

Volunteers must have completed a Belay Safety Course (available at The Wall).  Rock climbing experience is helpful, but not mandatory.  Training and orientation to the facility and familiarization with Wall procedures are provided.

Besides the opportunity to hang out with fellow enthusiasts, Volunteers who supervise a session can climb for free that month!  Honoraria are sometimes available for group sessions.

Volunteer Scheduling is flexible. Public Climbing sessions are held every Thursday and Sunday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  Groups – anytime.  Volunteer term – Indefinite.
