SSICS and SSI Literacy were successful in a joint proposal to the federal New Horizons for Seniors’ program for a one-year project to address seniors’ access to health care.
SSI Literacy will be the host/lead organization for this project to develop a volunteer-/peer-based information and support service for seniors struggling to navigate the complicated health care system.
The SSICS aspect of this project will be to develop this capacity at our Hereford Avenue location, and to make this an ongoing component of the Seniors’ Wellness program. A second joint application was made to United Way for this service. Once we hear about the fate of that proposal we will proceed with program implementation.
