In From the Cold Online Viewing Opportunity

In From the Cold premiered last month at the Salt Spring Film Festival. It was well received to a full room at the ‘Erskine Theatre’ of the Film Festival at GISS.

The film is now being screened in various venues to key audiences through conferences that are instrumental in the allocation of resources and services for homelessness in BC.  A further local screening in the community is also planned through the United Church. [April 14th update:  Please join us for a afternoon screening at the United Church on Hereford Ave Friday, April 21 at 3:00 PM.  There will be a Q&A period following the film which will be an opportunity to engage with community present.]

For those unable to attend the Film Festival or the currently planned opportunities, we are opening this opportunity to view the film online.

Produced by Salt Spring Island Community Services and made possible with the generous funding of SPARC BC, In From the Cold invites viewers into the worlds of the people living homeless or insecurely housed on Salt Spring Island. Residents and service providers on Salt Spring discuss their experiences of homelessness, shedding light on the unique challenges and opportunities in rural communities.

In a place where the homelessness rate per capita is several times higher than that of metro Vancouver or Greater Victoria and where the services available in urban areas are largely unavailable and in some cases, inappropriate for rural communities,  In From the Cold is a look at the struggles people face when there is simply no place to be.
