Times are changing fast and we’re doing our best to keep up.
At last count, when times were better, well over 9000 bags and hampers were distributed annually with about 30% of the food distribution going to children. Over 5000 hot and nutritious meals were served. Since then, we’ve seen the use of services increase and most recently we’re seeing a unique level of need in the community and preparing for yet more as many people face reduction or elimination of income.
We will continue to provide access to nutrition through our food security programs that are available to people through our main office at 268 Fulford-Ganges Road during office hours, 9AM-4PM, Monday through Friday.
Of course, it isn’t just our food programs that we are preparing for increased access to during this ever changing time. We are actively working to respond to our communities needs as they continue to arise.
Donations by those who wish to participate in providing help for those in need is most welcome. The best way to help is to send donation by e-transfer to accounting@ssics.ca.
Please note: if you have the option of donating items or monetarily we advise that monetary donations at this time are the most helpful, as food items that are donated must be disinfected taking a lot more time from a dwindling volunteer base. We can stretch a dollar further than the typical retail consumer as well.
