Island Community Services is looking for a compassionate team member to work shift work at a residence for adults with Developmental Disabilities.
Since we provide service 24/7, we need dedicated people with flexible schedules. Most of our employees start on a casual basis, gaining skills and experience while working towards regular full-time and part-time positions with benefits.
Starting wage is $25.05 or $25.91 depending on experience with an additional 10.2% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays for casual workers.
Covid Vaccination and a valid Drivers Licence is required. Criminal Records Search for the Vulnerable Sector and TB screening needed at hire.
Hours of Work: Varies (shifts are 7am-3pm or 8am-3pm or 2pm-9pm or 3pm-10pm weekdays and weekends). Casual hours to start. Possibility of permanent hours with benefits eventually.

Job Summary:
Duties include but are not limited to:
Providing direct service to adults with developmental and physical challenges in their home including medication, personal care, cooking and cleaning. Facilitating residents’ access to the community by supporting contacts and friendships with others. Enhancing the quality of life for the residents ensuring that their physical, social, medical and other needs are met.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
- Education and training in human services or related field, or the equivalent
- Previous work experience in a residential environment
- Certificate and training in First Aid, Food Safe, Medication Administration, Non-violent crisis Intervention are a plus. Applicants must be willing to obtain these qualifications.
- Applicant must be fit enough to push wheel chairs and do some lifts and transfers as needed.
- A valid full Driver’s License is needed.
- As per Public Health Order we require at least two Covid Vaccines plus TB screening.
- A Criminal Record Search for the Vulnerable Sector is required at hire
