Core Inn Energy Audit

11006024The Core Inn underwent an interesting review of it’s energy efficiency which included such high-tech processes of photographing every wall with an infrared camera and conducting a blower test to discover air leakage.

We included a teaching component in the process for a group of Gulf Island Secondary students.

The report has just landed on my desk and a quick scan indicates we have an extremely air-leaky building with inefficient windows and an inefficient heating system. A list of recommended upgrades could save us over $ 3,000 in annual utility costs.

We can use this report to do a cost benefit analysis of upgrades. This will be a valuable process for this building, but also to determine whether we should continue the process with our other buildings.
