Summer Positions for Youth

Closing date/times: 4:00 pm  May 27 and June 10, 2019 respectively

Salt Spring Island Community Services is looking to fill the following three summer positions for youth.  All positions are open to individuals between the ages of 15 to 30.

 

 COMMUNITY FOOD PROGRAM WORKER

SSI Community Services Food Programs requires two (2) youth to work full time (35 hrs/wk) at $15.30 per hour.  This job involves working outdoors, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting food to supply the Food Bank, Family Place and other programs at SSICS with local and nutritious food.  The worker will learn about market gardening, crop rotation and food security in our community.  Prior experience with farming/gardening needed.

SPECIAL NEEDS ACTIVITY WORKER

SSI Community Services Summer Program for children with Special Needs and Autism requires four (4) students to work full time (35 hrs/wk) at $15.30 per hour.  This job involves working at a day camp for children age 5-18 with Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism.  Duties include engaging the children in recreational activities, art and music programs, helping the participants access the community, navigate interpersonal relationships and manage behaviours as needed.  There will be training provided, but experience working in a camp setting and supporting people with Special Needs and Autism is a plus.
