Special Needs Activity Worker – Summer Student

community_puzzleSalt Spring Island Community Services is looking to fill the following summer student position over the summer.

All positions are open to students who are enrolled as full-time students this year and intend to return to school full-time next school year. All applicants have to be between 15 and 30 years old. Please note that priority will be given to persons with disabilities, visible minorities and Aboriginal peoples. Please indicate in the cover letter if you are a Priority Student. Partial funding provided by Canada Summer Jobs.


SSI Community Services Summer Program for children with Special Needs and Autism requires four(4) students to work full time (35hrs/wk) at $14.50 per hour. This job involves working at a day camp for children age 5-18 with Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism. Duties include engaging the children in recreational activities, art and music programs, helping the participants access the community, navigate interpersonal relationships and manage behaviours as needed. There will be training provided, but experience working in a camp setting and supporting people with special needs and autism, is a plus.
