Core Inn Youth Centre: Internet café and activities for youth
The Core Inn Youth Centre provides a welcoming and supportive environment for youth in grades 6-12, located in a three story heritage building in the heart of Ganges, close to schools.
Following the tragic death of two island youth concerned parents and community members joined forces to establish a safe and healthy community space for youth. A generous donor assisted the group with the purchase of a building in the downtown core of Ganges and the Core Inn youth centre opened its doors in 1993, its’ name taken from the names of the two youth who were lost.
In 2007 the Core Inn Youth Project Society dissolved and the building and its activities became part of Salt Spring Community Services Society. This amalgamation has made it possible to offer more hours, activities and staff to support youth.
The Core Inn is home to a drop-in centre and is home base for the Community Services youth counsellors and Options for Sexual Health. The centre provides advocacy and referral to counsellors and other resources for youth.
The space hosts games, computers, video games, internet access, big screen TV. Affordable and healthy food is available for after school snacks.
Please consult the calendar for up to date youth events and activities.
